Condolence & Memory Journal

My Dear Auntie Ef,
You're in my heart always. I miss pulling stories from your memory and learning from your wisdom. May you find peace in the comfort of God's arms.
To Judy and Dave....I send my most sincere condolences.

Many years have gone by, but I still have very fond memories playing at your house when we were young. Your mother was always so kind and soft spoken even when we left a mess in her kitchen after making cookies. To this day I remember her saying "a good cook always cleans up after herself".

May all your happy memories carry you through this time of loss. Know that you and David are in my thoughts and prayers.

Love Marie

Dear Judy and David

I just learned about the death of your mother. I have never forgotten working with her at Am Mut. She was always a favorite of mine. I often thought of her as I rode by her house on Wyoming Ave and hope she was well.

My sincere sympathy goes out to her family. Remember all the good memories you have had with her.

Dear Judy and Dave,

I was very saddened to hear of your mother's passing. She was a very important part of my life. I felt always close to her as I did my mother. Aunt Effie was a strong influence and support for me as well as my mom. I can remember the smell of her pantry...NUTMEG...she really liked nutmeg. I remember I would pull on her long braids/ponytail and then she would show her hand, a warning, and finally give me a good slap on the butt. Wow that took me by surprise and certainly got a cry from me. I know the slap was unintentional and I also know how much she loved me. As a child I remember how I loved her blueberry and lemon meringue pies, especially the blueberry that she made from scratch.

I remember the time when Aunt Effie and my mom came to California to visit with me for about a month. What a treat for me. I took them all over and they loved it. One time from the car Aunt Effie spotted a lemon tree leaning over a private fence and she got the urge to go and take some lemons so I stopped the car and let her out. My mother went nuts that she would do that, she kept saying that God said "Thou shall not steal". But that didn't bother Aunt Effie. It was a little bit of a climb over some rocks to get to the lemon tree but Aunt Effie was undeterred. Lemonade for Dave, she said. The rest of us just hid out in the car. I guess you could say I drove the getaway car.

I can also remember the two families going to Revere Beach, riding on Uncle Ols shoulder buying a hot dog at Frank's, I have sooo many Good Memories I could go on and on, must stop here.

I loved AUNT EFFIE and will miss her dearly!
Please, JUDY and DAVID stay in touch with me.

Judy and David,

Aunt Effie was a Special Lady to all of us. I grew up hearing Aunt Effie and Uncle Ol mentioned on many occasions. I'll always remember the two times "Us Girls" visited Boston. I especially remember the time we took Aunt Effie's old car out of the garage and with Judy driving, the six of "Us Girls" went shopping. There was hardly enough room for the six of us to make it home with all of our purchases. We laughed all the way home!

Aunt Effie always ended a phone call with " I love you all".

Judy and David - you are both in our thoughts at this sad time.

I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Effie @ American Mutual
for a short 5 year period up until the early 1980s. She was such a joyful inspiration to all who worked with her at the workplace. Her smile and wit was her attributes I have always remembered in the "Stat" division we had worked.
Effie will long be remembered!
My condolences to all her family.

Judy and Dave,
I'm so sorry for your loss. What a wonderful woman Effie was. I have so many memories of her that I've collected over the years. I fondly remember that old wooden egg cup that she kept in the cabinet over the sink and how she would ALWAYS cook the egg just right. And the raisen bread in the breadbox in the pantry. Mornings with her were wonderful. And at Christmas...Over the Rainbow, Stockings hung on the windowsill with care. She made every holiday truely magical. Your Mother was well respected by everyone she came in contact with. Her friends were the kind of friends that remained with her forever. Remember that horrific, embarrassing moment when she and my mother were candidly caught stealing oranges? What a pair they were. I do hope they have caffeine in Heaven or my mother will absolutely drive her crazy: as she so often did. Effie will be remembered by many and forgotten by none. I hope that the pain of her loss fades fast and that the memories of her life last forever.
Remember the dragonfly!
Love to you both,
Marc and Bernadette

Dear Judy & David,
So sorry to hear of Aunt Effie's passing. She became my Aunt too with the girls from Newfoundland. I always enjoyed my little visits with her at Kirkland. She always had such a wonderful smile and a pleasant greeting when I visited. I will never forget her and her kindness.

Judy, David and family are thoughts and prayers are with you during these difficult times. Effie was an incredibly giving and caring lady, the only thing greater than her smile was the the love she extended to everyone around her. Effie will be missed and our memories and fondness of her will forever be treasured.
