Arthur H. Blanchard Obituary

I remember Mr. Blanchard well and how intelligent, steady, fair, and honorable he was.. a true gentleman. We need more men like him... and we need them to stay much longer here in this world with us... teaching and pointing us toward what is good and right. With that said, we also need to know that in letting go, he is received in Love and that he would want us to move forward carrying in our lives all those ideals

Arthur was my freshman baseball coach and my science teacher. He once pulled me into the hall and pushed me off my feet against the wall. I never fooled around in his class again. He encouraged me to go to Bowdoin as he was a Bates grad. He was always friendly and took time to find out how you were doing.
He worked with my Mom at Melrose Wakefieild and everyone loved him there too.
He was a great teacher and adult role model. He was a very special person.

1966 Freshman year science at Melrose High, a teacher I loved and admired. I got to know Art more 5 years later when I was dating Anne, learning to play cribbage. So many fond memories, wish I had kept in touch. My sincere condolences to all the family. Bob

As a student/athlete at Portsmouth, NH High School during 1953-1954 I, and many others, had the privilege, honor and pleasure of being taught in the classroom and coached on the playing field by Coach Art Blanchard. Over time we learned that he was an outstanding athlete at Bates College a star on their football team; had served his country in the military with distinction during World War II; and, had unwavering patience in the classroom and especially on the football

I was fortunate to visit with Uncle Art and Aunt Loraine on many occasions with my mom, Yvonne. When the two of them got together it was as if time stood still, no time had passed between visits. They were brother and sister, sharing stories, reminiscing about their childhood and days gone by and ofcourse, telling a corny joke or two! The sparkle in their eyes when they saw each other i will never forget. They were special times for them and special memories for me. Thank you Uncle Art!
You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Love,
Tracey
