Barbara (Wentzel) Jones

Mrs. Barbara E. (Wentzel) Jones, a longtime resident of Melrose, died on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the Golden Living Center – The Dexter House, at age 88.

Mrs. Jones was born on September 12, 1923 in Melrose, a daughter of the late Arthur F. Wentzel and Helen (Berry) Wentzel. Raised in Melrose, she was a member of the First Congregational Church for many years. Barbara devoted her life to raising her children and many foster children. She was a foster mother for 25 years for The Home for Little Wanderers in Boston. She served her country in the US Army during WWII and enjoyed volunteering for Mainland Crafts in Melrose.

She was the beloved wife of the late Ernest E. Jones. Devoted mother of Diane C. Godfrey and her husband Jerry of Melrose. Dear sister of the late Edith Brennan, Esther Clark, Ruth Cameron, Bette Hampton, Carrie Feeley, Arthur Wentzel, Bob Wentzel and Helen Wentzel. Cherished grandmother of Sheri Stowers of Blacksburg, SC and Jerry J. Godfrey, V of Melrose. Loving great grandmother of Drew and Gerald Stowers of Blacksburg, SC.

Funeral Services will be private. Arrangements by Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose.
